Eurostars

• Consortia of research-active SMEs (research-active SMEs: share of R&D in turnover at least 10% or share of R&D personnel at least 10% or in SMEs with up to 100 employees, at least 5 of which in full-time equivalent in R&D or in SMEs with more than 100 employees, at least 10 of which) (consortia: at least 1 research-active SME plus at least 1 research partner of any kind from another participant country).
• Research institutes and large companies Submissions are possible at any time, assessment at semi-annual cut-off dates directly via the Eurostars portal, prior contact with the Eureka office in Bonn is recommended.

Eurostars is a program to promote research and development of SMEs in 34 EUREKA member states (EU member states and Norway, Switzerland, Turkey, South Korea, Iceland, Israel).

Eurostars projects are technology-neutral and serve civilian purposes. They aim to develop an innovative product, process or service. According to the so-called bottom-up principle, the project contents can be freely determined by the participating partners.

• German SME: max. 50%
• German university, research or scientific institution jointly funded by the federal government and the states, if no German SME is part of the consortium: 50%
• German university, research or scientific institution jointly funded by the federal government and the states, if a German SME is part of the consortium: 100%
• Large companies: Participation at their own expense
• Research SME must claim at least 50% of the total funding, no partner claims more than 75%
• Project must be completed within 36 months
• Market launch takes place at the latest 24 months after project completion.
