EXIST Research Transfer

Phase 1:

• Research teams at universities/non-university research institutions (max. three scientists and one person with business expertise) Phase 2:
• Technology-oriented companies founded as a result or outcome of Phase 1.

Phase 1:

• Conducting development work to demonstrate technical feasibility
• Development of prototypes
• Preparation of business plan and company foundation

Phase 2:

• Conducting further development work up to market maturity
• Commencement of business activities
• Securing external follow-up financing

Phase 1 funding:

• Subsidy by covering personnel costs for up to four positions, duration up to 18 months (in individual cases up to 36 months possible)
• Funding of material costs up to €250,000

Phase 2 funding:

• Start-up grant max. €180,000, max. 75 % of eligible costs, if the company provides capital in a ratio of 1:3 (max. €60,000), duration: 18 months
• Universities receive €20,000 for approved start-up projects as a bonus
