Federal guarantees for foreign direct investments

You can get a guarantee for foreign direct investments to protect yourself against political risks. The following direct investments, for which cash, goods or intangible services are provided, can be insured:

• Participations
• Capital investments of branches or establishments
• Shareholder or third-party participatory loans, e.g. from the bank
• Other asset rights, e.g. concessions, oil or gas purchase rights, bonds The coverage includes the following cases:
• Nationalization, expropriation or similar measures
• Breach of legally binding commitments of state or state-controlled bodies
• War, armed conflicts, revolution, insurrection or related terrorist acts
• Payment bans or moratoria Inability to convert and transfer Requirements:
• Your measure has an investment character.
• It is economically viable and is in the special interest of the Federal Republic of Germany.
• Your project contributes to the economic development of the recipient country and enjoys sufficient legal protection there.

Warranty

• Coverage of up to 95% of the funds invested in the host country against political risks
• Unlimited subsidy amount
• Warranty period usually up to 15 years
