Energy Efficiency Prize Brandenburg (Competition)

The competition is open to:

• Municipalities and
• Municipal companies from the state of Brandenburg as well as Companies (micro-enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises - SMEs¹) with their main office or branch in the state of Brandenburg. There are no restrictions regarding the legal form.
• Cooperation projects jointly conducted by these companies and universities can also be submitted by companies as part of the competition.

¹ Micro-enterprises, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are defined in the EU Recommendation 2003/361. According to this, a company is an SME if it has no more than 249 employees and an annual turnover of no more than €50 million or a balance sheet total of no more than €43 million.
By submitting their application, the participating companies and municipalities accept the terms and conditions of the competition.

• A prize each will be awarded in the categories Company and Municipality as well as a special prize by the jury.
• Only applications with projects completed and implemented in the state of Brandenburg within the past five years, i.e. after 01.01.2018, will be taken into account. The information on energy efficiency must be meaningful.
• The basis for the selection of the award winners are the information provided in the application form and the project outline. This information will be treated confidentially.
• The application is made online via www.energieeffizienzpreis-brandenburg.de. The applicants will receive an automatic confirmation of receipt.
• Only applications with a fully completed application form can be taken into account.
• In addition to the project outline summary (max. 2,000 characters), a maximum of 3 attachments can be uploaded in the file formats pdf, jpg and png. A permissible file size of max. 1 MB is possible for each attachment.
• The jury of the competition decides on the awarding of the prizes. Participation in the competition is free of charge. Any incurred expenses cannot be reimbursed. Legal recourse is excluded.
• The prizes will be awarded by the Minister for Economy, Work and Energy, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Jörg Steinbach, and the Chairman of the VKU Regional Group Berlin-Brandenburg, Mr. Harald Jahnke, on 25.05.2023 at the Brandenburg Energy Day in Cottbus.
• The participants undertake to make truthful statements and that no rights of third parties, in particular industrial property rights, will be infringed by the submitted innovations.
• The application deadline is 28.03.2023.

The award winners will be honored with an individual film portrait and a prize money of €5,000 each. There will be one award in the categories Company and Municipalities as well as a special jury award.
